The history
Theatret Thalias Tjenere is an internationally touring theatre based in Århus, Denmark. The company was founded in 1993 and has over the years established itself as Denmark’s leading professional mask performance company.
The ensemble creates funny and intelligent performances with multiple layers – for both young and adult audiences. The audience is presented an exciting story, a good laugh, and something to stretch their faculties. The troupe find their inspiration in popular theatre forms, such as Commedia dell’arte, melodrama, and slapstick.
Comedy and wit are generously applied as a medium to inspire reflection upon our reality, and upon the individual’s role in a larger picture.
